A non-O1 Vibrio Cholerae Isolated from a Goose

1981
In recent years, a diarrheal (and at times, systemic) disease in humans due to non-01 Vibrio cholerae infection has been reported (3,4). In the United States, these syndromes have been associated with the consumption of shellfish or exposure to salt water (3). This report is to describe the isolation of a non-Ol1 Vibrio cholerae from a goose and to inform veterinary and public health personnel of this possible source of infection for humans.
