Endoscopic nasobiliary drainage for acute obstructive suppurative cholangitis(a report of 226 cases)

2009
【Objective】To evaluate the effect of endoscopic nasobiliary drainage(ENBD) on acute obstructive suppurative cholangitis.【Methods】Totally 226 cases of acute obstructive suppurative cholangitis were treated by ENBD.Of which,188 cases suffered from common bile duct stones(CBDS),14 cases from biliary ascariasis,11 cases from cholangitis stenosis,7 cases from cholangiocarcinoma and periampullary carcinoma,6 cases from duodenal papillary stenosis and dysfunction.【Results】All 226 cases were successfully treated by ENBD and the incidence of complications was 2.2%.The symptoms of fever and abdominal pain were relieved in 2-5 days and serum bilirubin decreased significantly in a week after ENBD.All the cases were fully recovered with conservative treatment.【Conclusion】ENBD is recommendable to treat acute obstructive suppurative cholangitis for its easiness, effectiveness and safety. This method can rapidly improve the patients' situation for further treatments such as endoscopy or surgical operation.
