Analyzing land use and land cover change (LUCC) and its causes in the Cimeneng and Cikonde watershed using of participatory gis
2010
Meliputi : Focus Group
Discussion (FGD), transect walk, interview semi terstruktur da GIS partisipatif.
Participatory Geographic Information Systems (PGIS) can be an effective methodology for
collecting community input in their perceptions of environmental and social condition in
certain area. PGIS-based approaches provide people with an opportunity to discuss and map
their perception in LUCC (Land Use and Land Cover) and to identify the drivers in a way
that is not typically possible in a general public meeting. This thesis research explores how
community qualitative information about LUCC can be incorporated into an analysis of
LUCC causes in the Cimeneng and Cikonde watershed.
Cimeneng and Cikonde watershed chosen as it is contributed to the sedimentation in Segara
Anakan lagoon. To specify the research, two village selected fot the case study area was
Binangun and Cinangsi. Research approach regarding to study was qualitative approach.
Conducted to find out the LUCC causes and several activity comprised; focus group
discussion (FGD), transect walk, semi structured interview and PGIS.
The research outcome for the causes of LUCC in Cimeneng and Cikonde watershed break
down into four factor : government regulation, migrant remittance, Perhutani as another actor
and the cause of historical event. As a tool PGIS methodology offers effective public
participation in land use change analysis. Participation biases also presented a minor
limitation to the thesis research.
