Prenylated diphenyl ethers from the mantis-associated fungus Aspergillus versicolor GH-2

Abstract Five new prenylated diphenyl ethers ( 1 – 5 ), five known ones ( 6 – 10 ), and three xanthones ( 11 – 13 ), together with three anthraquinone derivatives ( 14 – 16 ), were obtained from the mantis-associated fungus Aspergillus versicolor GH-2. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods. The (2″ S ) absolute configuration of 1 was assigned by using the modified Mosher ester method. The known compounds 9 and 12 exhibited antibacterial activity against the clinical strain Streptococcus pyogenes with the MIC values of 2.5 and 5.0 μg/mL, respectively.
