The properties of tar-polymer mixtures†
2007
Mixtures containing continuous vertical retort tar and small concentrations of long- chain polymers have been examined by a number of different flow and brittle tests. In general the addition of polymer causes an increase in resistance to flow without greatly affecting the viscosity/temperature behaviour or the brittleness. A method of rheological analysis is presented for characterising the viscoelastic properties. The practical implications of the measurements are discussed.
