A Study on the Effect of Time Delayed Removal during an Accidental Release: Estimation of Crosswind Integrated Concentration with Eddy Diffusivity

2012
A study has been made for computing the crosswind concentration during an accidental release of pollutants. Here we consider two dimensional convective diffusion equation with an assumption that during accidental release there is no removal parameter initially in the region of interest but after certain time an artificial removal is introduced in second time interval. Also we consider the eddy diffusivity as a function of downwind distance from the source. These equations are solved with appropriate boundary conditions. The result shows the necessity and importance of removal mechanism and asserts on the emergency preparedness during such a disastrous episode.
