50.3: Measurements and Simulations of the Influence of Ions on the Frequency Dependence of the Optical Threshold Voltage in STN‐LCDs

Electro-optical measurements on STN-LCDs show a frequency dependence of the threshold voltage. With detailed electrical simulations this frequency dependence was successfully modelled over the entire 1–106 Hz frequency range. The correlation with ion contamination is established both experimentally and theoretically. The electrical simulations prove to be useful for minimising the occurrence of artefacts like cross-talk.
