RESEARCH ON THE CHARACTERISTICS OF SOIL FOR ROAD ENGINEERING IN THE HUANGHE DELTA REGION

This paper studies the characteristics of soil in Huanghe river delta region, including the forming cause, structural profile, chemical composition, mineral constituents and important physical properties such as grain size distribution, Atler bery limits, compaction property. Road conditions in the region are analysed in order to find out the influence of soil on the performance of roads. Feasible methods for increasing the strengths of lime-stabilised soil and lime-ash fly-stabilised soil are proposed in accordance with the clay mineral contents, colloidal activity and adsorptive action.
