Tratamento de efluentes de refinaria de petroleo via oxidacao por ozonio

1996
Chemical oxidation processes have been used for the purpose of transforming organic matter present in water and effluents converting it eventually into fine oxidation products, (CO 2 and H 2 O) or intermediate oxidation products which ate more easily biodegradable and less toxic. Due to its strong oxidation ability, ozone has been widely utilized in Europe and in the United States to desinfect drinking water. To a lesser degree a trend can be visualized to utilize ozone in treating effluents, either by polishing after secondary treatment units or even as pre-treatment in processes based on the biological oxidation of the pollutants present. This paper researches the behaviour of an effluent generated in a refinery of the PETROBRAS system vis-a-vis chemical ozone oxidation. This was a batch pilot scale research.
