A new approach to the analysis and synthesis of lossy reconfigurable matching networks

2009
This paper presents a new approach to the analysis and synthesis of Lossy tuneable impedance matching networks (IMN), based on a more accurate definition of the impedance coverage parameter. The usage statistic distribution of each switch and the network loss are also taken into account in order to compute accurate results and identify improvement margins of the IMN. A powerful software tool named ADRIEN has been developed using this innovative approach of evaluation of the performance of an IMN. Main features of this tool are presented, including input and output data format and computation process. ADRIEN's design capabilities have been successfully validated on the optimization of a fabricated IMN, with a significant improvement on the whole frequency range.
