Pressure self-multiplication and self-demultiplication effect in an elastic plastic substance at the structural phase transition

1994
Abstract On the basis of the deformation theory of plasticity with respect to the strengthening considered is a problem of the pressure distribution alongthe radius in a thin cylinder-like layer, compressed between the plane-parallel anvils and undergoing a phase transition. It is shown, that under the intensive shear deformation conditions the strengthening or dis-strengthening of a high pressure phase can lead to a significant change in astrain in the center of the anvils. It is found out, that on the radius-pressure dependence curve near the phase boundaries there must emerge the anomalies in the form of “step” or a local maximum. Determined are the characteristic dimensions of these anomalies and their effect on the maximum pressure value. In the frameworks of the obtained results the experimental data is discussed.
