Stable radical products of photolysis of isomeric nitrooctanes
1987
Formation of two types of nitroxyl radicals - dialkylnitroxyl and acylnitroxyl - has been detected as the result of photolysis of 2- and 1-nitrooctane, respectively. It has been shown that the acylnitroxyl arises as the result of secondary reactions of the dialkylnitroxyl. The existence of a reversible photochemical reaction has been established: the acylnitroxyls disappear under the action of light and are re-formed in the dark.
