Factores de riesgo para el fracaso de destete en una población de pacientes con EPOC en ventilación mecánica prolongada

Risk Factors for Weaning Failure in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease in Prolonged Mechanical Ventilation Introduction: Patients suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have an airflow limitation and require mechanical ventilation (MV). Because of deteriorated lung function, respiratory muscles weakness and malnutrition, patients also present difficulties in the weaning process. Information on the factors that can predict weaning failure in patients with COPD after prolonged MV is scarce. To identify risk factors for weaning failure in patients with COPD and evaluate the mortality depending on weaning success or failure.
