Planejamento Urbano, Lazer e Turismo: Os Parques Públicos em Curitiba – PR

This work focuses on planning as a way of organizing the urban territory, and as a means of determining interventions for rational occupation, recommending leisure in underused spaces. The creation of parks in environmentally protected areas is one way of developing the municipal district, within a concept of sustainability. Through this action, leisure, integrated with the environment, involves both the local inhabitants and tourists who use public spaces for leisure and visits. It is believed that leisure promotes the growth of town, improving quality of life and generating jobs through new sectors such as tourism, which requires urban infrastructure, and public and private areas for contemplation and consumption. This work uses the statistical data of the Parana Tourism board to show the importance of parks to visitors, for example the Jardim Botânico (Botanical Garden), which was previously a disused space but which, after planning, altered the urban landscape and stimulated tourism. This action should serve as an example for urgent intervention in the existing Iguacu EPA in Curitiba, since this region has been invaded by unplanned occupation in an area which, due to its special characteristics, could be used as a public space for leisure for the Curitiba population, and which could become a new tourism product.
