A PRODUÇÃO CIENTÍFICA NA SOBREDOTAÇÃO EM PORTUGAL

Abstract: This study describes and compares the scientific literature on giftedness produced in Portugal and Brazil during the years 2000 to 2012. The bibliographical data was collected from data basis with open access to universities, in Portugal and Brazil, (RACAP), CAPES, CNPq, ASPAT and ConBrasd, and electronic journals within the area of Psychology and Education in each country, within July and August, 2012. For keywords, the local terms "overgifted", "overgiftedness", "talented", "high skills" "supergiftedness" and "well endowed" were employed. The material was classified according to the categories "document type", "year of publication" and "studied thematic". Scientific production as defined has diminished in Portugal in the recent years, mostly regarding publication of articles in scientific journals, and increased the production associated with master's and doctor's thesis and dissertations. Also in Brazil the scientific literature has grown mostly through university
