Study on erythrocyte and reticulocyte parameters in the detection of non-anemia thalassemia

2009
Objective To explore the changes of erythrocyte and reticulocyte parameters and their clinical significance in patients with non-anemia thalassemia. Methods Beckman Coulter LH-750 Automated Blood Cell Counter was applied to measuring erythrocyte and reticulocyte counting in 100 healthy adults and 100 patients with non-anemia thalassemia;and the test results were statistically analyzed. Results In patients with non-anemia thalassemia, the levels of RBC,red cell distribution width(RDW),RET# and HLR# increased markedly;hemoglobin(Hb),mean corpuscular volume (MCV),mean corpuscular hemoglobin(MCH),mean reticulocyte volume(MRV),and mean spherocyte volume(MSCV) decreased markedly, while RET%,HLR%and IRF had no significant changes. Conclusion Screening of non-anemia thalassemia by routine hematological examination has the vital clinical significance in clinical diagnosis and aristogenesis.
