A method of preparing foamy carbon from coal-tar pitch

A method of preparing foamy carbon from coal-tar pitch is disclosed. Coal tar is adopted as a raw material. The coal tar is purified by adding zinc hydroxide so as to reduce the ash content. The purified coal tar is subjected to coal tar processing and pitch preparation by adopting a separating manner at present for separating light components from coal tar. The ash content of the pitch prepared by the method is 0.047%. The high-performance foamy carbon the strength of which is 6 MPa and the heat conductivity coefficient of which is lower than 0.04 w/m.K can be prepared by adopting a self-foaming manner. At present, most pitch for preparing foamy carbon in China is a finished pitch product purchased from the Japan Mitsubishi Corporation, the finished pitch product is subjected to secondary processing and finally the foamy carbon is prepared by using the pitch subjected to the secondary processing. Preparation of the foamy carbon through the method can achieve high economic value of the coal-tar pitch and reduce the production cost of the foamy carbon.
