Method for improving the degree of material utilization for a reel-up (1) a fiber web (W), characterized in that the method include diagnostic and conversion, wherein in the diagnosis: - the dimensioning of a drum roller (5) to ensure sufficient load-bearing capacity is checked, - the fibrous web grades to be produced (W, W01, W02, W03, W04, W0n) are selected for examination, - the existing coverage angle (α) is determined, - the effect of the overlap angle (α) of the fiber web (W) on the rewind tension of a rolled-up machine roll (6) is established, - the minimum rolling up tension of the fiber web is defined (W), wherein the material utilization efficiency is within the specification, - the largest minimum rolling up tension from the group of said selected fibrous web grades (W, W01, W02, W03, W04, W0n) is determined, and wherein the conversion: - the feeding of the fibrous web (W) roller to rise and the coverage angle (α) can be changed such that, when an overlap angle (α) from the group of selected fibrous web grades (W, W01, W02, W03, W04, W0n) is the largest minimum rewind tension may be exceeded.
