Production practice on cold rolled low-carbon and low-silicon steels at Jinan Steel

Practice on BOF-LF to produce thin slabs of low-carbon and low-silicon steels at No.3 Steelmaking Plant of Jinan Steel is introduced.Through enhancing the BOF hitting-rate at the end point,preventing the molten steel over-oxidation,keeping reasonable Ca/Al ratio in liquid steel and strengthening protective casting etc., the cast ability of molten steel was improved remarkably.In order to reduce silicon pickup,countermeasures were taken such as to reduce BOF slag carryover and to control Al addition and refining period. 188 580 tons of SPCC and SPCD low-carbon and low-silicon steels were produced.Statistics showed that the qualification ratio of slab chemical composition with company internal standard was 88.98,and comprehensive slab qualification ratio reached to 99.84.
