Energy balance strategy for cluster-head nodes in wireless sensor networks

2009
Wireless sensor networks(WSNs) are characterized by centralized data gathering and many to one data communication pattern. That means the energy consumption of cluster-head nodes which near to the sink node is greater.Aiming at the problem of energy hole,an energy consumption balance strategy for cluster-head nodes is proposed based on distributing nodes in each cluster.According to the clustering aggregation topology in WSNs,the energy consumption of cluster-head nodes is analyzed and the basic nodes and corresponding additional nodes are distributed. Finally, the energy consumption of cluster head nodes in WSNs turns to balance.Experimental results demonstrate that this strategy can adapt the dynamic changes of network size and load, thus balance energy consumption of cluster-head nodes effectively.
