The present invention discloses a method for manufacturing a composite material and an anode for a lithium ion battery, wherein the composite material comprises a porous composite electrode. Carbon-based material is formed in the wall of the hole formed in situ in the pores. Composite porous electrode provides a space to accommodate the volume change during charge and discharge of the battery, while the carbon-based material capable of improving the conductivity of the electrode composite. This method creates porosity in order to have a high carbon content and a wider opening of the pores within the pores, thereby enhancing the distribution of lithium ions.
