COVID-19 from general surgery perspective

2021
With the rapid incline of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, healthcare staff was urged to get organized for this new period. While preserving personal protective equipment, general ward beds, and intensive care unit beds physicians face difficulties. Getting infected for surgical teams mean additional workload for the remaining staff and in some cases, loss of the senior surgeon. Only emergent surgical cases are suggested to be performed to keep the healthcare staff ready and healthy for further months. Surgical staff should be minimized and personal protective equipment should be provided for hospital staff. Basic knowledge of COVID-19, action plans, algorithms for emergency and elective surgeries are necessary for surgical teams. © 2021 Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
