Ciudades atormentadas: los desastres urbanos y atención humanitaria (Cruz R029oja Argentina, 1864-1930)

2019
This paper analyzes the actions produced in Argentina through the Red Cross, one of the first international entities that was formed in the country. This perspective of analysis can help to illuminate the influence of non-governmental organizations in a stage of gestation, formation and consolidation of the Argentine national State. The analysis covers from 1864 to 1930 and is due to the formation of the association until the first break of the democratic system in the country, when the Armed Forces initiated a major intervention. It focuses on the role of the Argentine Red Cross in three disasters in various areas of the interior of Argentina and in the City of Buenos Aires.
