Fabrication of planar heterojunction perovskite solar cells

2014
Organic-inorganic hybrid methyl ammonium lead halide perovskites have large absorption coefficient and high carrier mobility, which lead to their applications in photovoltaic devices. Recently, solar cells based on perovskite absorber have achieved the record solar-to-electrical power conversion efficiency as high as 15%. 1-4 Furthermore, these perovskite solar cells can be fabricated through cost-efficient methods like solution processes and vapor processes which are widely used in industry. As the perovskite is light absorber layer, the purity of perovskite composition is very important, which in turns leads the significant of studying different methods of making perovskite layers. In this presentation, we discuss properties of CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3 perovskite layers that were synthesized from two different solution process(spin-coating in one step and dip-coating in two steps). We fabricate the planar heterojunction solar cells by sandwiching these materials between N-type transport layer and P-type transport layer, and compare the properties of these cells.
