The Data Envelopment Analysis of Eco-efficiency in Western China from 2000 to 2010

2015
In the view of sustainable development, there are some resources and environmental problems increasingly prominent in the economic development of western China due to its fragile ecosystem. This paper evaluates the eco-efficiency and analyzes the changes based on DEA model with the data of Provinces in western China from 2000 to 2010. The results show as follows: the average value of eco-efficiency is less than 1 and fluctuated since the west development, not reaching the most effective production frontier; there are some striking differences among provinces from two respects of efficiency and redundancy rate; such pollutants as waste gas, industrial waste water and solid wastes and such natural resources as energy are major factors influencing the western eco-efficiency.
