Education Reforms in Maghreb

2015
Through its education and training policies, Maghreb has developed professional certifications which are integrated into general education and promote part-time apprenticeship programs. There are strong tensions between absorbing school dropouts and creating training programs which are valued socially and recognized by employers. To go beyond this, the public authorities have been resorting to new tools of production and of regulation of young people's skills, within the framework of the international partnerships studied here. A transformation of the way qualifications are built is under way at the intersection of the transnational, Euro-Mediterranean and national levels. This socio-historical comparison of the links between international expertise and youth training reforms takes a particular interest in the spread of the competency-based approach.
