Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Allergy and Humoral Antibody-Mediated Hypersensitivity Pneumonia1,2

1973
Recent case reports have documented the relationship between aspergillosis and pulmonary allergic diseases. Studies of a patient with symptoms of pulmonary allergic disease suggested that Pseudomonas aeruginosa was the allergen. Extensive immunologic studies revealed reaginic and precipitating antibodies to the organism with evidence of diminished delayed hypersensitivity. The clinical manifestations of fever, productive cough, bronchospasm, fleeting pulmonary infiltrates, and eosinophilia responded dramatically to prednisone therapy.
