PROJETO AMAZÔNIA LEGAL SEM RESÍDUO: UM OLHAR PARA A GESTÃO DE RESÍDUOS A PARTIR DA MINIMIZAÇÃO E TECNOLOGIAS, SAÚDE AMBIENTAL E GOVERNANÇA

2020
The Amazon Legal Without Residues research project has a specific objective for the population of the Legal Amazon or the use of technology and information for the sustainable management of waste residues, forms a positive impact on environmental health through the provision of related scientific and technological information to the theme. To address the minimization of solid waste generation, presidential workshops were held in three capitals of the Legal Amazon: Rio Branco (Acre), Palmas (TO) and Sao Luis (MA). The objective is to present the main perceptions of the debate tables, from the analysis of the reports of each workshop. Selective collection is still very necessary, and this implies the lack of recyclable materials and, therefore, the lack of interest from recycling companies. It stands out for a remarkable performance of the associations and cooperatives of collectors. It was a problem in the lack of resources for waste management and in the difficulty in preparing and implementing municipal plans. The involvement of society was also a subject that was widely discussed, as many think that waste management is an obligation of the government alone. As for environmental health, it was found in the debates that it is still common to expose dumps and the practice of burning “garbage” in cities, impacting people's health and life, and impacting the environment. Many problems still require selected investments by the city halls, however, concluded if environmental education, shared responsibility, and technical capacity are essential for urgent and positive changes.
