Application of Project Based Learning in Mechanical CAD/CAM Bilingual Teaching

Mechanical CAD / CAM is a comprehensive and practical course. In its traditional bilingual education practice, the main way of explaining is difficult for combining theory and practice knowledge, and the teaching effect is not satisfied. Project based learning method was applied in this paper. "Design and development of a four-degree-freedom industrial robot" was selected as the teaching task. According to the theoretical teaching contents, details and progress of the project was arranged. Considering the goal of bilingual teaching, implementation and evaluation schemes of the project were defined. The teaching practice results show the project based learning method is effective for enhancing students’ enthusiasm and initiative, is favorable for improving students’ ability of solving practical engineering problems and enhancing their skills of applying professional English. It provides references for some similar professional courses with bilingual teaching way.
