Study of ice cloud formation and evolution in the Tropical Cloud Belt with

2008
Water ice clouds are an important player in the Martianclimate. They not only influence the water cycle, butalso have a radiative influence on the temperature [1] andcause dust depletion, as dust particles are condensationnuclei for the ice particles. A better understanding anddescription of these processes requires a microphysicalstudy. We here present some case studies of the formationand evolution of Martian water ice clouds in the TropicalCloud Belt (TCB) with the one-dimensional detailed mi-crophysical model MARSBOX and compare the resultswith SPICAM data.
