Direct dual media filtration for the Mt Grand water treatment station

Investigations into the use of direct dual media filtration for treatment of a low turbidity surface water for Dunedin City are reported, and aspects of the chemical treatment process, filters, backwashing, and treatment station operation are described. The specified plant requirements and performance criteria for the treatment station, significant features of the accepted tender, an disposal of washwater are noted.
