12033 - Avaliação e caracterização da feira agroecológica do município de Areia - PB Evaluation and characterization of the Fair Agroecological Areia - PB

This work results from a study on the organization of agricultural products fair in the city of Areia, Paraiba State. The study aimed to evaluate the infrastructure, the way of marketing, customer service and characterization of the consumer profile. The survey was conducted in October of 2010, and was the visit at the fair, in carrying out informal conversations and semi-structured questionnaires. After analyzing the data it was found that the fair is an important tool to increase the family income, elimination of middlemen and better interaction between producers and consumers, however, we noticed the need for improvement among which include: the provision of technical support for monitoring of productive activities, increasing and diversifying production, consumer awareness about the social and environmental benefits of agro-ecology, and the performance spaces that enable strategies to improve the presentation and marketing of products.
