In order to effectively respond to rapidly changing environment, various demands, and intensified competition, school organizations are required to change into flexible, fast and professional organizations. However, the traditional education reforms that have been made in the past have not been able to bring about positive changes to the school by adopting the downward change strategy, and have not produced meaningful changes such as cooperation among members, development human potential and learning achievement. In this regard, this study explores how the ‘organization development(OD)' is applied to school organization as a new organizational change methods of school organization. The study explored total quality management, learning organization, and professional learning community as an organization development interventions, which is applied to school organization and school consulting and appreciative inquiry as model of planned change. In conclusion, the study suggested its future direction including 1) the roles and authority of school organization as an independent management unit, 2) diversification of school organization development interventions, 3) the necessity of interest in cognitive, emotional and behavioral performance of students, 4) the necessity of strict application of planned change model, 5) independent organization development intervention applied to school organization, 6) organizational development capability of school administrators, 7) and national approach of organization development.
