From birth, the infant oral cavity becomes colonized by microorganisms. The care of oral hygiene should be instituted as soon as the child's conception occurs. The amount of fluoride in children's toothpastes is a very controversial subject. The general recommendation is to use a small amount of toothpaste (0.3 g/similar to the size of a pea) for each brushing. Key-words: toothpastes; fluorine; dental fluorosis.
