Relationship between the gene polymorphism of PAI-1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus.

2009
Objective To analyze the gene type and distribution frequency of plasminogen activator inhibitor type-1(PAI-1)in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM),and to explore the relationship between the gene polymorphism of PAI-1 and T2DM.Methods Thirty-four patients with T2DM(observed group) and 39 healthy controls(control group) were enrolled in the study. The gene polymorphism of PAI-1 in two groups was detected by specific polymerase chain reaction(PCR),and plasma level of PAI-1 was measured by ELISA.Results There were significant differences in PAI-1 gene types frequency and allele frequency between the two groups(χ2=24.127,P0.001;χ2=7.312,P0.05).The frequency of 4G allele frequency in the observed group was significantly higher than that in the control group(χ2=6.280,P0.05).The plasma level of PAI-1 in the observed group was significantly higher than that in the control group(t=10.7,P0.01),and which in the patients with gene type of 4G/4G was significantly higher than that in the patients with gene type of 4G/5G和5G/5G(F=21.02,P0.001).Conclusion There lies a recorrelation between the gene polymorphism and T2DM,the 4G allele of PAI-1 maybe a risk factor for the generation of T2DM.
