LOGISTIC OPTIMIZATION OF CARGO TRANSPORTATION CHAINS. INVESTIGATION AND STANDARDIZATION OF INFORMATION REQUIREMENTS. PHASE 2A. FINAL REPORT

On the basis of research results concerning a generally applicable information system which includes all transport chains in groupage freight transport (LOG) a research project was carried out in order to develop, realise and test the said system. The basic idea of LOG is to optimise the transport flow by improving the utilization of the information accompanying the transport along the whole transport chain. By sending transport and trade data ahead of the goods the LOG information system is expected to provide the conditions for more efficient transport and increased efficiency of the processes inside the enterprises. LOG makes it possible to interlink the information systems of various companies involved in the transport chain as the need arises.
