Effect of Imported Fire Ant (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) Invasion on Lone Star Tick (Acarina: Ixodidae) Populations

1977
Surveys conducted in mid-March, April, and May 1974–1976 and 1974–1975 in DeSoto and Sabine Parishes, respectively, in northwestern Louisiana showed a dramatic reduction in populations of the lone star tick, Amblyomma americanum (L.), attracted to dry ice when the areas were invaded by the imported fire ant, Solenopsis invicta (Buren).
