Aprendizaje interactivo en un contexto low-tech: formación profesional e innovación en el caso de Asturias

Spanish research on regional innovation systems provides better characterizations for regions with high levels of innovation intensity than for regions with low or medium levels. The regional case of Asturias (Spain) is particularly interesting, because it shows low innovation levels compared with other regions of similar industrial tradition. Both the approach on low and medium technological intensity (LMT) and studies on role of vocational education and training (VET) on innovation are relevant contribution to analyze innovation processes in that type of regions. Firstly, tis article give a qualitative profile, based on in-depth interviews, of the regional innovation system in Asturias form the perspective of VET centers contribution. Secondly, the effect on levels and variants of innovations of this contribution is quantitatively analyzed, based a survey on sample or regional firms. Main results confirm a LMT regional patter of innovation, with specific lack of some components.
