A rapid fastening device for orthodontists

1966
Abstract A new fastening device for use by the orthodontist has been presented. This device eliminates tedious tying procedures and introduces a technique that is more physiologically adapted to orthodontic movement because of the method of engagement of the wire in the bracket. The procedure employs a light-wire technique, is comfortable to the patient because of the smooth and highly milled surfaces of the appliance, and is a great asset to the orthodontist since it accelerates the changing of arch wires and thereby saves chair time. Because of its design, the appliance can bring about movements without the use of additional attachments to either arch wires or bands. This device, or one similar to it, may be a step in the development of an automated technique in orthodontics.
