Teratoma pulmonar maduro en pediatría. Reporte de un caso
2018
The teratoma is called a tumor formed by cells of the three germinal lines: endoderm, mesoderm and ectoderm in different maturation state. It is called mature when it is well differentiated and is predominantly ectodermal, with solid and cystic areas. Lung origin teratoma is extremely rare and the age of presentation described in the literature is in women aged 20-40 years, which makes the case presented below more interesting. These types of tumors can generate symptoms such as those present in the mediastinal teratoma, described as cough, chest pain or present with hemoptysis and / or infectious diseases. However, in some cases, the diagnosis is incidental, when performing chest X-rays, Difficult diagnosis. Mature teratomas do not produce tumor markers; therefore they are human chorionic gonadotropin beta and alpha fetoprotein negative and are not chemosensitive. Therefore, the treatment is surgical, which achieves cure rates above 95%. This paper aims to describe a clinical case of mature teratoma lung, because it is very rare in the world and even more so in the pediatric population, which gives it clinical significance.
