Notes on {\sl Carex} sect. {\sl Planatae} (Cyperaceae) of China

In Flora Reipublicae Popularis Sinicae, Carex sect. Planatae includes two different types of plants. One possesses interrupted spiciform inflorescence and leaf-like bract. The other possesses densely spiciform inflorescence and scale-like or bristle-like bract. They should be distinct sections, sect. Planatae and sect. Ovales. The 2 sections are compared morphologically with the closely related section, sect. Remotae. The taxonomical synopsis of sect. Planatae and sect. Ovales in China are presented.
