OCEAN CONTAINER TRANSPORTATION: AN OPERATIONAL PERSPECTIVE

1990
Following an introductory chapter examining the origins of containerization and the forces that have molded its development through the 1980s, this book focuses on one particularly important set of responses to those forces, namely those that improve efficiency and reduce costs. The book is organized into three parts. The first focuses on marine terminals. The second part concentrates on the containerships themselves. The third section considers ocean container transportation and intermodalism during the 1990s and beyond.
