Pemanfaatan Silase Daun Ubikayu Sebagai Pakan Ternak Kambing Di Kabupaten Lampung Timur

An assessment on the utilization of cassava leaf silage as goats feed was held at Munir’s  farm, Braja Selebah Village, East Lampung in June to September 2014. The purpose of this  study was to determine the effect of the utilization of cassava leaf silage and concentrate for  goats in East Lampung. The number of goats observed as many as 16 heads which were  female Jawa Randu breed (crossbreed of Peranakan Etawah goat and Kacang goat), age 1- 1.5 year. The treatment given are P1 = farmers technology (native grass + onggok) and P2  = improved technology (native grass + cassava leaf silage + concentrate). Each treatment  was repeated 8 times. Feed were given at morning and afternoon. Drinking water available ad-libitum. The parameters observed were feed intake, body weight at beginning and end of assessment, and the economic value of goat business. The results showed that the average  daily body weight gain of goat on P1 for 90 days of maintenance is 46.58 g/head/day while  on P2 is 85.40 g/head/day. The analysis showed that financially, female goat rearing fed  with cassava leaf silage and concentrates is feasible because its R/C value is more than one (1.69) with benefit of Rp. 2,967,900/8 heads/90 days or Rp. 4,122/head/day.
