Effect of Infill Percentage on Vibration Characteristic of 3D-Printed Structure

2021
3D printing techniques are used to fabricate the structures for prototyping and for customized products. Fused deposition modeling (FDM) technique is commonly used due to low cost and simplicity. Evaluation of mechanical characteristics of the printed structure is very essential for best utilization. Mechanical characteristics printed structure depends upon various printing parameters. Among various geometrical parameters, the infill percentage is very important. This paper presents the study of the vibration and flexural behavior of beam fabricated using fused deposition modeling (FDM) using polylactic (PLA) thermoplastic material. In this study, we observed the effect of infill percentage on mechanical characteristics under static and dynamic conditions.
