Diagnostic value of electrocardiogram in patients with hyperkalemia

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of electrocardiogram in patients with hyperkaelaemi.Method We studied 59 cases of patients with hyperkalemia and analysed their ECG findings.Results There was no absolute parallel relationship between the serum potassium level and the ECG changes.Only the hyperkalemia resulting from eliminating disorder of potassium showed a good accordance with the ECG changes,as for the hyperkalemia from the intracellular drainage of potassium,no ECG changes were observed.Conclusion ECG changes more along with serum potassium increasing and is of clinical significance in distinguishing hyperkalemia and pseudohyperkalemia.
