The invention discloses a control method and a master controller for cascaded high-voltage frequency converters, and the method and the master controller are characterized in that a distributed design is adopted; the master controller comprises a main control panel plug-in and peripheral auxiliary plug-in for high-voltage frequency converters, and the plug-ins are designed in a distributed mode; the main control panel plug-in and the peripheral auxiliary plug-in are arranged outside a case; the main control panel plug-in for the high-voltage frequency converters is used for implementing control, data transfer and communication with a host computer; and the peripheral auxiliary plug-in is cooperatively used with a peripheral auxiliary changeover plug-in so as to complete the functions of the peripheral auxiliary plug-in such as the acquisition of various signals and the driving of power electronic devices, wherein the peripheral auxiliary changeover plug-in is used for completing the isolation and conversion of alternating current magnitudes, direct current magnitudes and switching values. By using the control method and master controller disclosed by the invention, appropriate frequency conversion adjustment modes can be set according to different load requirements, and the expansion of the different control modes can be realized conveniently; and because the function of a control system has an extendibility, the technological level as well as operation reliability and flexibility of the system are enhanced, the operation efficiency of equipment is improved, and the maintenance cost is reduced.
