Factores que modulan el ajuste personal y social del paciente epiléptico Factors that modulate the personal and social adjustment of the epileptic patient

An analysis of research and theoretical levels was done about the factors that influence the management of the personal adjustment of the patient who suffers from epilepsy. The author makes reference to the need of dealing with the study and care of these patients in a comprehensive way considering the related aspects with the biology of the disease, medication issues, the characteristics of the psychological development in relation with what was previously stated and pointing out the affective and cognitive processes. The scholar, social and family environment were stated to understand the problem. The main purpose was to offer an integral vision of epilepsy from the perspective of health psychology, calling the attention from other professionals like doctors, neurologists, psychologists and other specialists who are in contact with patients with epilepsy in order to change old schemes and to work with real patterns of recovery and social integration.
