Triplet nature of paramagnetism of a sodium stilbene adduct in tetrahydrofuran

The results reported in this paper indicate that the observed stable paramagnetism of stilbene adducts with alkali metals in polar media is due to the formation of a new previously unknown complex, which is probably in the triplet ground-state, rather than to anion-radical state of stilbene. Die in dieser Arbeit mitgeteilten Ergebnisse zeigen, das der in polaren Medien beobachtete stabile Paramagnetismus von Stilbenaddukten mit Alkalimetallen eher auf die Bildung eines neuen, bisher nicht beschriebenen Komplexes, der sich wahrscheinlich im Triplett-Grundzustand befindet, zuruckzufuhren ist als auf den Anionen-Radikalzustand des Stilbens.
