This article describes some methods of teaching to read pupils with impeded hearing. The solution of the problem of literary education of primary school pupils requires a study theoretical and practical questions connected with literary development, in particular, the question of criteria and levels of literary development. In this article the results of experimental work resulting in definition of the main criteria and levels of literary development of primary school pupils are described
