PHY-layer Authentication for IoT Devices Using Frequency Offset Feature

This paper studies the problem of authenticating IoT devices by using PHY-layer features. In particular, a PHY-layer authentication scheme to authenticate IoT devices is proposed. This scheme mainly utilizes the transmitter-specific frequency offset. The approximate expressions for the false alarm and detection probabilities of the proposed authentication scheme are analytically derived, based on the theories of statistical signal processing, and composite hypothesis testing.
